FAO partnered with DreamWorks Animation LLC, the United Nations Creative Community Outreach Initiative and the UN Foundation to mark the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables with a digital campaign using the positive, colorful Trolls characters. #TrollsFoodHeroes encouraged children to “be a food hero like the Trolls” and “eat more fruits and vegetables”, “eat all kinds of fruits and vegetables” and “don't waste fruits and vegetables”. [26 Nov 2021 – 28 Feb 2022]

Progress to date
  • A 60-second video and a 15-second video were created.
  • Four social media cards with campaign messages were created.
  • The campaign assets were translated into all official UN languages, plus Bahasa Indonesia, Hindi, Italian, Kiswahili, Portuguese and Serbian.
  • The campaign was featured on FAO.org home page and in the IYFV closing ceremony
  • The campaign was promoted digitally by all partners and featured on un.org/ActNow website and app
  • A campaign poster and flyer was created by FAO Serbia and distributed to kindergartens and elementary schools nationwide
  • The campaign will be highlighted in FAO / UNICEF School Food and Nutrition Education capacity building materials as an example of effective engagement with children.
