FAO Informal Private Sector Advisory Group (PSAG)

FAO believes that the private sector plays a pivotal role in the fight against hunger and malnutrition, and in supporting FAO members in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To this end, FAO's Private Sector Advisory Group (PSAG) serves as an informal channel allowing select stakeholders across the private sector to give important advice and feedback on FAO's increasing engagement with the private sector.

The PSAG consists of 25 private sector entities reflecting a balanced global representation of actors across the agrifood value chain. PSAG members provide input at a strategic level on how FAO can better tailor its outreach approaches to different kinds of private entities, support an increase in SDG-aligned investments, as well as how to best fine tune FAOs approach to private sector engagement to achieve impactful results.

The first virtual PSAG meeting was opened by Director General QU Dongyu on 31 January 2023. The meeting was attended by FAO's core leadership, observers nominated by the FAO Regional Groups, and by the PSAG members. The group will be convened for at least two meetings per year, with additional ad hoc meetings as required.

PSAG members speak under Chatham house rules, and feedback from meetings is reported at a strategic, rather than individual level.
