FAO's Data Lab


The Data Lab presented on the relevance of data interoperability in realizing the potential for knowledge commons to address global sustainability challenges and discussed the future trajectory of integrated data dissemination.
The Data Lab attended "AI for Good" 2024, the largest event organized within the UN on Artificial Intelligence (AI), promoting AI to advance global development. 
During the 28th session of the AFCAS, the Data Lab shared key takeaways on "Data-Driven Strategies: FAO’s Data Lab Tools for Filling Data Gaps and Obtaining Timely Insights" and presided over a session on "New Developments in the Use of Alternative Data Sources for Agricultural Statistics".

The Data Lab presented a workshop on "Data-Driven Decision Making: Insights from FAO’s Data Lab" to the Global Governance faculty of Tor Vergata University in Rome.
The Data Lab presented "From Data to Knowledge: FAO Data Lab's Transformative Approach to Statistical Innovation" at the 2023 Innovate Africa Symposium in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The Data Lab presented its methodology to derive early warning indicators from news articles using R.

Essence - an integrated framework for document retrieving and analysis developed by the Data Lab - was presented at the UNSD Brown Bag Webinar.

The Data Lab presented at the International Conference on Agricultural Statistics (ICAS), which focuses on fostering and leveraging best practices and research in response to the changing needs and opportunities for agricultural statistics.
The Data Lab presented the Food Inflation and Nowcasting Tool at the second technical workshop on nowcasting in international organizations.
FAO's Data Lab created a Big Data tool to help the organization and its stakeholders monitor the COVID-19 impact on food chains with real-time analysis and visualizations.
