Dear Colleagues There are many people and organizations doing good work in all areas of socio-economic development ... Simon Stumpf talks of some 2,500 social entrepreneurs in total and hundreds in rural development ... but I would argue that the numbers we do not know about are a lot bigger than those we know about. But it is worse ... there are a huge number of people that with a modest level of technical, monetary and practical assistance that would become entrepreneurs and make a huge socio-economic difference for themselves and for their communities. What we are trying to do with Community Analytics (CA) is to start looking at the community and what is going on in the community ... what could go on in the community ... and what organizations are in place to help with the needed interventions. CA has a community focus with the priorities defined by the community ... and the interventions driven by the community. CA does little more than (1) serve as a scorekeeping and (2) serve to collect and compile performance stats ... rather like any sports game of any importance! Peter
Hello! My name is Simon Stumpf and I work for Ashoka: Innovators for the Public. We boast the world's largest network of leading social entrepreneurs - 2,500 total and hundreds doing innovative work in rural development. I am currently working with my colleagues in Sub Saharan Africa and India to find 100 new "Ashoka Fellows" with cutting edge and systems-changing new ideas in rural innovation and farming. If you are a social entrepreneur with a big, bold new idea or know someone who is, I'd love to hear from you! Please email me at [email protected]. Thanks! Simon
Hello everyone. I am Holly Ladd with the AED-SATELLIFE Center for Health Information and Technology. We have been using ICT for health projects for over 20 years and are currently developing solutions for mobile data collection and information dissemination. I have a ken interest in ensuring that we are developing complementary, interoperable open source solutions for cross sector work. I fear that we will all stay in our silos and that this will cost far more money and pain for those implementing on the community level. I am here to learn about what is happening in this sector. I live in the US. We work globally.
