FAO and Food Safety launch a project to improve the food control system in Egypt, with support from the European Union

Cairo, Egypt - The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) announced today the launch of the project “Strengthening food control and phytosanitary capacities and governance” in cooperation with the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA), and with financial support from the European Union, during the project’s founding workshop.

The founding workshop aims to begin evaluating the national food control system in Egypt using the joint food control system assessment tool between the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO), with the participation of a large number of members of the House of Representatives, permanent secretaries, decision makers, and officials of contact points, in addition to representatives Universities, research institutions, private sector representatives and consumer associations.
