Objective:
To increase availability of and access to food for vulnerable households living in crisis-affected areas, and to restore agricultural-based livelihoods opportunities.

Beneficiaries reached:
4 850 households (29 100 people)
Activities implemented:
- Distributed 600 tonnes of wheat seed to 3 000 households (200 kg each).
- Distributed 170 tonnes of barley seed to 850 households (200 kg each).
- Distributed 1 000 vegetable seed packages, each consisting of tomato seed, eggplant seed, cucumber seed, squash seed, okra seed, Jew’s mallow seed, spinach seed, parsley seed, lettuce seed and radish seed.
- Trained 1 166 beneficiaries on improved cereal farming techniques using the Training of Trainers methods, who then disseminated the knowledge among their respective communities.
Impact:
- Improved the food security and livelihood prospects of 3 000 beneficiary households with the provision of wheat seed. After satisfying their food consumption needs, it is estimated that each beneficiary household would have been able to earn approximately SYP 90 450 (USD 187) from the sale of surplus produce.
- Improved the food security and livelihood prospects of 850 beneficiary with the provision of barley seed. After satisfying their food consumption needs, it is estimated that each beneficiary household would have been able to earn approximately SYP 89 600 (USD 185) from the sale of surplus produce.
- Improved the dietary diversity and food security of 1 000 households with the provision of vegetable seed packages.
- Improved the agricultural practices of cereal producing communities by way of training sessions, using the Training of Trainers method. This will benefit the communities well-beyond the current season.
