Гуманитарная ситуация в Эфиопии продолжает стремительно ухудшаться. Конфликт на севере страны, климатические потрясения, в том числе рекордная засуха, и цепь негативных последствий, вызванных нашествием пустынной саранчи, привели к потере урожая и падежу скота. Как следствие, по всей стране обострилась проблема отсутствия продовольственной безопасности, что ограничило доступ миллионов людей к продовольствию. Учитывая, что 80 процентов населения Эфиопии живут за счет сельского хозяйства, группы, сильнее всего пострадавшие в результате пережитых страной потрясений, нуждаются в постоянной гуманитарной помощи. Оказывая чрезвычайную помощь сельскому хозяйству и животноводству, ФАО помогает обеспечивать людей ресурсами, необходимыми для удовлетворения основных потребностей, производства продовольствия и получения дохода.
