Project's full title Green Cities in Action for Africa
Introduction Supported by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the project aims to promote green urban development while addressing the growing challenges of climate change, rapid urbanization, and urban vulnerability.

Objective / Goal Support ten cities in five countries in identifying viable, locally adapted solution that promote green urban development while addressing the growing challenges of climate change, rapid urbanization, and urban vulnerability. The key expected outcome is the development of Green Cities Action Plans, which will translate the ambitions of Italian Piano Mattei into concrete, investment-ready projects tailored to the needs of each recipient city. The Action Plans aim to generate a pipeline of bankable projects, foster policy dialogue and political alignment, and provide a strategic basis for the Italian Cooperation in establishing territorial partnerships and stakeholder engagement framework

Activities

The Energy team is responsible for:

  • pre-feasibility assessments, to understand the local context and find entry points for interventions,
  • feasibility assessments, focused on selected interventions, and
  • techno-economic assessments.
Impact The Green Cities project will help ten African cities develop tailored Green Cities Action Plans to promote sustainable urban growth, tackle climate change, and improve resilience.
