Get prepared wall
The concept
The European Commission for the Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease has developed a resource bank, the Get prepared wall. It includes resources for contingency planners to assess and address gaps in different areas of preparedness for animal disease emergencies. Get prepared should also facilitate networking between contingency planners.
The interface
The interface is shown as a wall and each component of emergency preparedness is represented by a brick. The wall conveys the idea of building preparedness, and the bricks are block-style to show that the process is continuous. The colored layers represent the foundations and the different epidemiological phases of the animal disease event (alert – emergency – reconstruction).
The resources
Resources available include the EuFMDis model, open-access v-learning courses, and other training tools. Current tools are mainly for FMD, a number of the new ones are more generic and adapted for FAST diseases. Some tools will be of use to countries other than EuFMD Members, though they may reference European Union legislation.
Assessment tools
The Get prepared wall also includes assessment tools to facilitate the identification of gaps and areas for improvement in preparedness.
Access to the wall
The resources are available to EuFMD members and other countries, upon request.
