Making farm inputs available in small size packages to increase farmers' yields
Farm inputs such as improved seeds, fertilizers, and herbicides are conventionally packaged in large bag sizes that are beyond the financial means of small farmers. The technology demonstrates ways of mobilizing the private sector to make small quantities of appropriate inputs available in mini-packs. It also demonstrates novel ways of promoting these packages so that farmers can try them out on their own plots and, having "learnt by doing", are encouraged to invest in progressively larger packs as they see the returns on soil fertility, food security and marketable products.
