Empowering Women Through Access to Water - Senegal
The Sahel region faces severe drought and desertification. Often, women have to walk 10 kilometres for water. FAO’s “1 million cisterns for the Sahel” project helps women and farmers harvest and store rainwater. The cisterns provide clean water for drinking and growing food to millions of people in arid areas.
