This leaflet explains the best practice approaches to plant health care in organic agricultural systems and the role of natural substances in a biodiversity-based system approach. Four components of a resilient plat production system are explained: 1. Farm and landscape level, 2. Biodiversity, 3. Management measure, and 4. Direct plant protection measures. The current legal and economic situation for natural substance in plant protection are discussed. Practical examples are provided, including mechanical weeding, reducing copper in viticulture, as well as a tables of examples of plant protection products authorised for organic production. The leaflet concludes with some policy recommendations. The tool is relevant for all practitioners looking to raise healthy plants, holistically.
