Global Farmer Field School Platform

Near East and North Africa Network

FFS have been implemented in the Near East and North Africa region by FAO for the past 12 years. Today, practitioners are continuing the work developed by the FAO regional programme on FFS-Integrated Pest Management (IPM) independently. Building on expertise developed under IPM-FFS regional programme on vegetable production,11 countries met for a stock taking and planning workshop in Tunis in October 2015. They agreed to establish a Regional FFS Network, in close collaboration with regional partners, including the Near East Plant Protection Organization (NEPPO). The network will address the role of FFS for anchoring sustainable IPM by small holders in the NENA region. A study on gender/social inclusion and community development aspects of FFS has been initiated in this region.
