Supportive Policy Environment for Artisanal Fish Drying
Policy should create an environment that enables the uptake of appropriate technology and practices that minimize food loss and waste (FLW) in sun drying. Many processors involved in artisanal fish drying operate as small/medium scale enterprises (SME). Policy that supports the growth of such businesses is likely to encourage the use of improved appropriate technology, hygiene, and handling standards that will reduce FLW. A key element of SME growth is access to finance for investment in equipment and working capital to expand turnover.
