Dr. Gary Pierzynski is a university distinguished professor of soil chemistry and currently serves as head of the Department of Agronomy at Kansas State University. He is a Co-PI on the USAID Feed the Future Sustainable Intensification Innovation Lab, a member of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization Intergovernmental Panel on Soils, former President of the Soil Science Society of America, and incoming President-Elect of the American Society of Agronomy. Pierzynski is known internationally for his knowledge of the chemistry of phosphorus in soil and for his work on remediation of contaminated sites and soils with an emphasis in heavy metals.
