Alhagie Wahab Jabbie, Grand Marabout at Sutukung village, Lower River Region has praised the MDG1c project`s achievement in the community as outstanding. According to him, produce from the garden is remarkably alleviating the suffering of women and the entire community. “Because of the huge benefits being realized from the garden, all the men and youths in the village have now embraced horticultural production and have joined the women in the garden”, he noted.

The Grand Marabout said he personally harvested 20 bags of onions and showered praises on FAO, the EU and government for the intervention. He explained that he supported the project from the onset because of the strong passion he has for agriculture as well as his commitment to the achievement of the project`s goal and the Vision 2016 agenda. Imam Jabbie enjoined the community to ensure maximum utilization of the 5-hectare garden to ensure their total emancipation from poverty and food insecurity. He prayed for the donors, wishing them peace and prosperity and urged them to keep up the momentum.

Alhagie Karamba Jabbie, another male farmer said thanks to the project, the community has achieved self-sufficiency in onions. He said the intervention has improved vegetable consumption and reduced rice consumption and thus promoting good health and nutrition.
