Climate change threatens our ability to ensure global food security, eradicate poverty and achieve sustainable development. Actions to move towards efficient, resilient, and sustainable agrifood systems must be at the heart of global climate action to mitigate emissions, build resilience, and ensure food security for all. The article looks at how FAO is helping countries access climate finance through its partnership with the GEF and addressing the critical nexus of climate change and food security.

FAO's GEF-funded project in Afghanistan's Bamyan province is implementing community-driven approaches to sustainable land management to restore degraded rangelands. The project recently supported construction of Passive Solar Houses (PSH) to provide alternative livelihood options to the community, decrease land degradation, and increase rangeland productivity.
