Strengthening technical capacity on geospatial technologies for Land cover and crop monitoring in support to sustainable food and agriculture in Arab countries

The Geospatial Unit of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) organized a virtual technical workshop from 14 to 16 March 2023 on the use of  remote sensing and SEPAL in support to sustainable land cover and crop type monitoring. The aim of the workshop was to enhance technical capacities from twenty-two member states of AOAD on the use of state-of-the-art geospatial technologies for land, water and crop monitoring. In total, 66 experts attended the training. The traning covered theoretical and practical presentations, as well as exercises, on the applications of remote sensing and GIS for land cover mapping, crop monitorng and assessment of land degradation.
