EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Working Group on Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (WGIUU), including a session on the clarification process, was held in a hybrid format on 24-25 May 2022 in Larnaca, Cyprus. The meeting was attended by 74 participants, who reviewed information presented by the GFCM Secretariat in the context of the identification and clarification process, including on the status of the implementation of GFCM decisions and on the transmission of data. The WGIUU also analyzed information provided by CPCs through a questionnaire on the implementation of the GFCM Regional Plan of Action to combat Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (RPOA-IUU) and continued discussions on the implementation of an IMO number. Ad hoc sessions on catch documentation schemes and on monitoring, control and surveillance measures for pilot inspection schemes were also held.
