Kazakhstan extends wheat export restrictions until 30 September 2022

On 15 June 2022, the Government of Kazakhstan announced the extension of wheat and wheat flour export restrictions until 30 September 2022. The restrictions were originally introduced on 14 April and set to expire on 15 June. The recently announced extension adds 550 000 tonnes of wheat to the original quota of 1 million tonnes, and 370 000 tonnes of wheat flour to the original quota of 300 000 tonnes (see FPMA Policy). Exporters can now sell up to 1.55 million tonnes of wheat and 670 000 tonnes of wheat flour until 30 September 2022.

As of 16 June, the Grain Union of Kazakhstan reported that 54 percent of the original 1 million tonnes of wheat export quota, and 91 percent of the original 300 000 tonnes wheat flour quota, had been exported.
