In mid-February 2014, the Government of Thailand released 687 623 tonnes of rice stocks from the 2012 and 2013 crops for both export and domestic sales. The Government is periodically selling stocks  in order to raise funds for the Rice Pledging Scheme implemented in October 2011. A new tender for another 500 000 tons of rice will be issued later in the month of February.
