Brazil removes import duties on maize

21/04/2016,

The Government of Brazil has recently removed the import duties on maize shipments from non-Mercosur countries for a period of six months and for a maximum amount of 1 million tonnes. The measure aims to boost supplies, after strong exports in the past months, supported by the sharp depreciation of the national currency, and strong demand from the feed industry reduced market availabilities and pushed domestic prices of maize to record highs.
