Global Soil Partnership

Strengthening soil governance

Strong soil governance provides the enabling environment for sustainable soil management. Through normative instruments such as the Revised World Soil Charter, the Voluntary Guidelines for Sustainable Soil Management (VGSSM) and the International Code of Conduct for the Sustainable Use and Management of Fertilizers, together with legal resources such as SoiLEX, the global database on soil legislation, and science-based policy support, the GSP assists countries in strengthening the policies, institutions and decision-making processes needed to promote the sustainable management, restoration and protection of soil resources.
