RECSOIL

The RECSOIL initiative has the objective to scale up the adoption of sustainable soil management practices, with a focus on sequestering and maintaining the stocks of soil organic carbon (SOC) for the improvement of soil health.

RECSOIL: Recarbonization of Global Agricultural Soil

The RECSOIL initiative was launched in 2019 to scale up the adoption of sustainable soil management (SSM) practices with a focus on sequestering and maintainiang the stocks of soil organic carbon (SOC) for the improvement of soil health. The main objective are to prevent future SOC losses and increase SOC stocks, improve farmers' incomes; and contribute to food security. RECSOIL focuses on agricultural and degraded soils and supports the provision of incentives for farmers who agree to implement good practices. In RECSOIL, farmers (particularly smallholder farmers) constitute the main agents of change. By providing financial incentives and technical support, the initiative equips farmers with the resources and knowledge needed to implement these practices effectively.
