This webinar is designed to:
- introduce the problem of toxicity in salt-affected soils with indications on how to assess and monitor it;
- present management practices for enhancing crop productivity in salt-affected soils facing toxicity issues;
- support countries in managing salt-affected soils for increased crop productivity.
Speaker:
Prof. Dr. Jorge Batlle-Sales, Chair of the FAO-GSP International Network of Salt-affected Soils (INSAS), Chair of the IUSS Commission on salt-affected soils. Prof. Jorge Batlle-Sales has an extensive background in the soil geochemistry education and research, to which he has dedicated almost 50 years of his professional life. He has delivered numerous international lectures, led over 20 research projects, and supervised 14 doctoral theses. Prof. Batlle-Sales was actively involved in EU research networks on halophytes and climate change and has held key roles in the international cooperation. His contributions have earned him honors such as the Key to the City of Mazatlán and many others.
