The Gambia
The Gambia is partnering with FAO and the 50x2030 Initiative to generate timely, high-quality agricultural data that aligns with the country’s development targets. As one of the 50x2030 implementing partners, FAO provides technical support to The Gambia for preparing and implementing the 2025 National Agricultural Sample Census (NASC). This operation aims to collect accurate information, creating a detailed snapshot of the agricultural sector, which is crucial since the last sample census was conducted in 2011-2012. Starting in 2026, The Gambia will continue to receive technical assistance to design and conduct three rounds of the National Agricultural Survey in line with 50x2030 methodologies. This survey will incorporate advanced techniques, such as crop cutting, and will produce thematic information through the administration of 50x2030 specialized rotating modules on a multi-annual basis. Among these, a module linked to the annual agricultural survey will focus on collecting data on Post-Harvest Losses.
As a result of these efforts, a rich amount of data will be available to inform analysis and decision-making in the agricultural sector.
