Ghana
In the framework of the 50x2030 Initiative, FAO provides technical support to Ghana to implement an annual agricultural survey programme to ensure the production of timely and high quality agricultural data, to address the country’s needs and match the main national development targets. In particular, the survey program will provide baseline and follow-up data for monitoring an important project of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the Planting for Food and Jobs Phase II (PFJ 2.0), that will be funding one survey round in 2024.
Ghana receives technical assistance in the preparation and implementation of a non-standard units survey and three rounds of annual agricultural survey following the 50x3030 agricultural survey model which include a core module and three rotating modules on farm income, labor and productivity (ILP); production methods and environment (PME); and machinery, equipment and assets (MEA).
For each round of survey, a specific crop-cutting operation will be organized at the beginning of the agricultural year while the main visit to farmers for administering the core and rotating modules will be implemented at the end of each of the two seasons of the agricultural year. In order to facilitate the implementation of the annual surveys, a preliminary survey on non-standard units will be carried out during the first year of implementation, in synchronization with the first annual survey and will cover selected markets across all districts.
Start date: 2024
Status: Ongoing
Objective: Improvement of the annual agricultural survey to produce more and better data to support evidence-based policy making
