Agricultural integrated survey programme (AGRISurvey)

Liberia

Liberia embarked in the 2022/2023 Census of Agriculture, the first comprehensive agricultural census since the 1970s. The data collection activities are carried out by the Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA).

FAO provides technical assistance to the data collection through the 50x2023 Initiative, including capacity development activities on survey preparation, use of digital technologies to collect and manage data, data analysis and data dissemination.

The Liberia 2022/2023 Census of Agriculture will generate important data on the country’s agricultural sector, including statistics to monitor the SDG indicators, mainly on SDG 2, and the CAADP indicators, providing timely, up-to-date agricultural data to support evidence based policy making.

The country is also giving special attention to mainstreaming women’s empowerment and nutrition into its national agricultural survey, being one of the pilot countries for the integration of the WEN questionnaire, a survey tool to measure the empowerment and dietary diversity of women living in agricultural households.
