Nigeria
FAO, under the umbrella of the 50x2030 Initiative, provides technical assistance to Nigeria for the preparation and implementation of the National Agricultural Sample Census (NASC).
The NASC marks the first agricultural sample census conducted in the country in nearly thirty years. This effort fills a significant gap in the national statistical system, providing updated and accurate data on the agricultural sector. By doing so, it offers valuable insights for policymakers, researchers, and stakeholders to make informed decisions, develop effective agricultural policies, and implement targeted interventions to enhance the productivity and sustainability of the agricultural sector.
With FAO support, in the context of the 50x2030 Initiative, five data sets have been collected in the period May 2022- April 2023. Data cleaning and analysis of NASC listing and community survey have been finalized.
The programme will continue to provide technical support to the country, establishing a robust foundation for a long-term series of agricultural surveys, ensuring the consistent collection, analysis, and dissemination of high-quality agricultural data.
