Adapting irrigation to climate change (AICCA)

National validation workshop of the assessment of climate change impacts and resilience of rural communities in the ProDAF area in Mali

Bamako - Mali, 25/05/2018 - 25/05/2018

FAO in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture from Mali will organize a national workshop in Bamako, Mali on 25 May 2018 to validate the results from the participatory assessment on the climate change impacts and adaptive capacity of rural communities in Mali. This assessment took place in 2017 among 90 households from three irrigation sites: Die, Founia and Lac Horo. Information was collected through the SHARP (Self-evaluation and Holistic Assessment of climate Resilience for farmers and Pastoralists) tool developed by FAO.

The workshop will gather representatives from the government of Mali and from the main national institutions involved in water management and climate change issues.

The outcome of the event will be the publication of a report related to the resilience of family farmers in Mali towards climate change.
