Sustainable management of the Canary Current Large Marine Ecosystem (CCLME)

Mr. Aboubacar SIDIBE, appointed as Chief Technical Advisor (CTA) and Regional Coordinator of the Project "Towards a Sustainable Management of the Large Marine Ecosystem of the Canary Current (CCLME Project) GCP/INT/985/GFF". Mr. Sidibé holds a PhD in fisheries science and a Master degree in biological oceanology and marine environment. He worked for more than 10 years as a researcher at the National Center Fisheries Sciences of Boussoura (CNSHB) of the Republic of Guinea, where he held various positions as Head of Research Programs, Deputy Head of the Research Department and Deputy Director General of CNSHB. In 2007, Mr. Sidibé joined the Permanent Secretariat of the Sub-Regional Fisheries Commission (SRFC) in Dakar, Senegal where he served for over three years as Scientific and Technical Advisor. From April 2011 to July 2014, Mr. Sidibé worked for FAO as the Leader of the Living Marine Resources component of the CCLME project. He also worked at the African Union Interafrican Bureau for Animal Resources of the (AU-IBAR) in Nairobi, Kenya, between July 2014 and September 2016 as Project Officer for Fisheries Resource Management in the frame of the implementation of the African Union Policy Framework and Reform Strategy.

Prior to joining the CCLME Project, Mr. Sidibé was since October 2016 the Senior Fisheries and Aquaculture Policy Officer of European Union & FAO's FIRST program (Impact, Resilience, Sustainability and Transformation for Food and Nutrition Security), based in the Agriculture and Rural Development Directorate at the ECOWAS Commission (Economy Community of West African States) in Abuja, Nigeria.
