Item title

Work package 1 focuses on organizing and guiding the project's implementation, ensuring its impact through rigorous planning, monitoring, and data collection.

It involves stakeholders in setting priorities, developing monitoring frameworks, and creating educational tools and training methods.

The work package also includes developing a digital platform for tracking climate change education and mitigation efforts, with contributions from various experts and institutions to ensure the project's success and sustainability.

Item title

Work package 2 aims to raise awareness and promote climate action through strategic communication efforts.

It involves creating and managing communication channels, including the project website, social media, and public campaigns.
The work package also focuses on training journalists, empowering teachers, students, and community leaders as climate ambassadors, and organizing public events to engage diverse audiences.

The goal is to effectively disseminate climate change knowledge and foster a culture of environmental stewardship across all sectors of society.

Item title

Work package 3 focuses on sharing the project's successes and knowledge globally. It involves participation in international fora, including UNFCCC, showcasing Zambia's achievements in climate education, and advocating for inclusive representation in global climate discussions.

The package also aims to integrate Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE) into global financing mechanisms and government planning, developing guidance and tools for other countries to replicate successful practices.

It includes the launch of knowledge exchange initiatives, promoting global collaboration on climate education and action across countries.

Item title

Work package 4 aims to integrate climate change education and behavioural science approaches into Zambia’s national curricula.

It includes assessing teachers' knowledge, revising curricula, developing digital training materials, and building the capacity of educators and institutions.

The goal is to ensure that climate change education is effectively embedded in schools and higher learning institutions, fostering sustainable learning environments and practices across Zambia.

Item title

Work package 5 aims to enhance non-formal climate education in Zambia, creating a national consortium of non-formal education entities, providing international mentoring, establishing citizen science mechanisms, and setting up a presidential award for young climate leaders.

The project will also support climate change clubs, strengthen community-based organizations, scale up successful educational initiatives, and develop context-tailored resources.

The goal is to improve the reach and impact of climate education, particularly for vulnerable and disadvantaged groups, by building capacity, fostering partnerships, and scaling successful practices.

Item title

Work package 6 focuses on enhancing skills for Zambia’s green transition and expanding the Green Cities Initiative.

It involves developing sector-specific competency frameworks to identify and address skills gaps and conducting an in-depth assessment to pinpoint learning priorities and institutional capacities.

The work package also includes upgrading training materials, developing of short courses and eLearning trainings. 

Item title

Work package 7 focuses on boosting the private sector’s role in Zambia’s green transition.
It includes assessing private sector skills, enhancing capacity for green investments, and supporting innovation hubs with microgrants.

The goal is to improve understanding of sustainable practices, foster green investments, and promote commercialization of green technologies.

Item title

Work package 8 aims to enhance university-level education and skills development for renewable energy use to combat climate change.

It includes updating academic curricula and laboratories at UNZA and CBU, building faculty capacity, and strengthening technical and vocational training institutions.

It also focuses on developing interdisciplinary MSc modules, training trainers, and improving infrastructure for renewable energy research.

Item title

Work package 9 focuses on enhancing the skills of forestry and agricultural professionals to support climate change mitigation.

Key areas of support include developing climate change training materials for extension officers, improving curricula and training at agricultural and forestry colleges, and providing in-service training for professionals.

The work package also supports ongoing community-focused projects and strengthens peer-to-peer learning.
