International Women's Day 2023

This year's International Women's Day celebrations at Vanimo Town in West Sepik Province was epic. Over 300 men, women and youth joined our Gender & Youth Inclusion team with our partners and stakeholders to commemorate the day, beginning with march around the town, discussion on women roles and rights of women in PNG and concluded with a panel discussion between the participants, the #EU- STREIT PNG Programme team and guest representatives from the PNG Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and National ICT Authority of Papua New Guinea.

The team had a meaningful celebration with discussions around the main themes of #IWD2023 1. DigitALL- Connecting everyone with trending technologies to improve living standards in PNG regardless of Gender, Social status, disability etc. 2. Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality - Led by our FAO and ITU teams, the panel had a serious discussion on how women and marginalized groups in PNG can improve their living innovatively though efficient access to Trending technologies and how the STREIT PNG Programme through the ITU and government stakeholders are working towards assisting the people in the Sepik Region.
