MSMEs Development
The EU-STREIT PNG Programme supports the Government of PNG in addressing the agribusiness development obstacles in the Greater Sepik region. It includes creating and enhancing a climate, gender and age-sensitive enabling and inclusive environment for MSME activity and improving the conditions for agribusiness development in the region.In this effort, the Programme focuses on agrifood value chain stakeholders´ needs such as licensing, registration, management, quality service provision and improved access to national and international markets, as well as effective address to internationally required safety, inspection standards and criteria, tackling technical trade barriers and value chain constraints.
Support is also envisaged to enhance national policy and strategy through contribution to the development and implementation of relevant enabling legislation, and policies such as e-agriculture strategies, certifications and crucial for the acceleration of investment in agricultural value chains, export/marketing, extension service provision, quarantine regulations, fisheries management, labour-related legislation, MSME development, financial inclusion and access to capital through various of partnerships.
The programme also supports sustainable utilization of natural resources, climate change management measures and implementation of Nationally Determined Contribution under the Paris Agreement, energy policy and strategy as well as access to and availability of ICT/telecommunications/digital solutions.
