Resources and support
IMI-SDG6 supports countries in collecting, analyzing and reporting SDG 6 data on water use and water stress, while helping policy- and decision-makers use this information to guide evidence-based policies and investments.
To achieve this, the initiative develops practical guides, case studies, organizes thematic workshops and webinars, and advances methodologies for generating contextualized and disaggregated data. It also offers help desk support for specific requests.
Through the Publications and E-learning sections, you can explore a range of capacity development resources tailored to your interests - choosing both your preferred thematic area and the format that best suits your needs.
Publications
Check all the IMI-SDG6 publications ranging from indicators progress reports and methodology documents to case studies and reports.
Guidelines
FAO has developed guidelines available in various languages and free of charge on how to calculate and monitor SDG indicator 6.4.1 and 6.4.2 for global reporting. They provide a detailed step-by-step explanation of the calculation process for use by countries willing to generate a more accurate estimation using their national data.
E-learning
The online trainings are available in different languages to learn about the indicators, their calculation for SDG reporting and about specific aspects as environmental flows. The materials are free of charge and certificates of completion are available for those who finish the course. Some of the courses are downloadable.
Tools
Practical tools that can be used to put in practice the recommended methodologies, to deepen the knowledge of the interlinkages with other thematic areas (gender equality, institutional context, capacity building needs).
Methodology
More on the methodological development of SDG indicators 6.4.1 and 6.4.2, from the basic methodologies needed for the indicators’ computation to the advance disaggregation methodologies. The last mentioned allow for generation of detailed data as spatial and temporal disaggregation of level of water stress by basin and sub-basin. It provides decision-makers with precious information to ensure sustainable management of water resources.
Capacity development
Capacity development helps countries generate reliable data on water use and stress, and apply it for better decisions. It is also one of the five accelerators of the SDG 6 Global Acceleration Framework.
