Strengthening water governance in Rwanda

FAO launched the "Knowing water better - toward fairer and more sustainable access to natural resources for greater food security (KnoWat)" project in Kigali, Rwanda on 4 September 2019.

A one-day workshop was organized with the Ministry of Environment (MoE). A total of 49 representatives from government and non-governmental organisations, including MoE, Rwanda Water and Forest Authority (RWFA), Rwanda Agriculture Board (RAB), World Bank, Rulindo District, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), University of Rwanda and FAO, attended the workshop.

During the workshop, many challenges and opportunities of water resources management and workplan were discussed. In addition, the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) was established, including representatives of the MoE, RWFA, RAB, Young Water Professionals, and FAO, and held its first meeting.
