Discover more on SVC4SIDS work in Cabo Verde

The SVC4SIDS is a global project implemented by FAO with funding from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea. In Cabo Verde, the SVC4SIDS project is working to enhance the effectiveness of the tuna and black mackerel value chains and to nurture the development of sustainable fisheries.

  

 

The fisheries sector plays a crucial role in Cabo Verde’s economy and livelihood. Its relevance is presented in this video through two personal stories. A shipowner and a fishmonger tell us about their daily life, highlighting the challenges faced by actors, and the opportunities they have to improve their livelihoods.

In the last years, the Government of Cabo Verde has put many efforts in fostering the Blue Transformation and to support sustainability of the fisheries sector in the country. In the video, Mr Albertino Martins, National Director of Fisheries and Aquaculture in Cabo Verde, focuses on strengths and weaknesses of the fisheries sector and of the associated value chains, as well as highlights the strategic areas of intervention of the FAO SVC4SIDS project.
