Strengthening Family Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Settlers in the region

In continuity with the action of Brazilian cooperation in the region and also as a result of the process of strengthening the agenda of the policy dialogue spaces for Family Farming, some of the key issues have been identified to continue moving towards the required transformation for the Sustainable Development Goals. Recognizing the role of Family Farming in overcoming poverty and eradicating hunger, it is essential to focus at this time on discussions about public policies focused on providing access to rural services: financial, non-financial, technical assistance, and rural extension. as well as promote the development of inclusive markets for Family Farming.

The challenge of focusing and deepening cooperation on these issues also involves continuing to strengthen existing spaces for dialogue and giving consequence to their agendas, with special attention to reducing the gaps found by rural women and young people.

Under this context and recognizing the role of Family Farming in overcoming poverty and eradicating hunger, it is essential at this time to guide discussions about public policies focused on providing access to rural, financial and non-financial services, strengthening systems. innovative technical assistance and rural extension (ATER), and promotion and construction of inclusive markets for Family Farming.

Thus, this project will seek to contribute to the sustainable rural development of Latin America and the Caribbean, strengthening Family Farming through public policies built on the basis of dialogue and within the framework of south-south cooperation between the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean. thus responding to the Sustainable Development Goals proposed by the 2030 Agenda.

In conjunction with the Brazilian Cooperation Agency and the Special Secretariat of Family Agriculture and Agrarian Development, the project activities will focus on training technicians and managers of government institutions and civil society in the region on public policy issues to Family Farming and Family Farming, establish an integrated knowledge management system on the issues of Technical Assistance and Rural Extension in the region. On the other hand, work will be done on the construction of a joint communication strategy of the results achieved, as well as on the establishment of a joint mechanism for coordination and implementation of the planned activities.
