Sustainable bioeconomy for agrifood systems transformation

About the Bioeconomy Strategies Dashboard

The Bioeconomy Strategies Dashboard is a global public resource to advance a sustainable bioeconomy by providing comprehensive information for decision-makers. It primarily analyzes two datasets, focusing on global bioeconomy strategies and their alignment with biodiversity and climate targets.

The repository of bioeconomy strategies draws on data from diverse sources, including FAO country and regional offices, external partners and counterparts, international experts, conferences, publications, websites and news. While every effort has been made to ensure the completeness and accuracy of this dataset, please contact [email protected] if you notice any inaccuracies.

About the Inventory of Bioeconomy Indicators

Bioeconomy has strong potential to transform how resources are produced, used, and shared, placing people and the planet at the core of development. However, this potential can only be realized through clear metrics to monitor and assess sustainable bioeconomy development and its sustainability.

This inventory complements the 2025 FAO publication Indicators for sustainable bioeconomy: Towards building a monitoring and assessment framework by supporting a structured approach to indicator prioritization. To build a bioeconomy monitoring and assessment framework, it is assumed that a bioeconomy strategy is already in place, in line with guidance provided in The bioeconomy toolbox: A guide to support the development of sustainable bioeconomy strategies and policies.

The inventory is designed as a dynamic tool, to be periodically updated in response to evolving needs and collaborative curation, for example in the context of the FAO-facilitated Working Group on Metrics under the COP30 Bioeconomy Challenge.
