Türkiye
In 2020, the total fisheries and aquaculture production in Türkiye amounted to around 786,000 tonnes. Aquaculture has grown steadily over the years, yet marine capture production remains important, consisting of 56% of the total national fisheries and aquaculture production.
Catches of wild shrimp in Türkiye are mainly composed of deep-water rose shrimp (Parapenaeus longirostris), with 3500 tonnes landed in 2020. Enhancing the value chains of shrimp will improve market efficiency, reduce costs, and create value addition.
SVC4MED aims to strengthen the wild shrimp value chain by identifying key inefficiencies and opportunities for economic, environmental, and social improvements. The project will also support relevant stakeholders in creating enabling environment for better livelihoods and ecosystems.
