Simonda – a young dynamic farmer finding ways to coexist with wildlife in Namibia

This video tells the story of Simonda Kakola, a young and dynamic farmer from Namibia’s Zambezi region who, like many others, is facing the challenges of human–wildlife conflict. His farm is located in the Kwandu Communal Conservancy, part of the Kavango–Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA TFCA) — one of the largest conservation landscapes in the world.
The Sustainable Wildlife Management (SWM) Programme is working with WWF Namibia and farmers like Simonda to reduce human–wildlife conflict, improve food security, and strengthen communal conservancies in Namibia.

The SWM Programme is an international initiative, co-funded by the European Union, the French Facility for Global Environment and the French Development Agency. It is being implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD), the Centre for International Forestry Research (CIFOR-ICRAF) and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS).
