The Tropical Agriculture Platform (TAP)

Concepts and principles of the TAP Common Framework have been tested in several countries in the context of different projects.

The testing of the Framework occurred as part of the Capacity Development for Agricultural Innovation Systems (CDAIS) project, implemented by FAO and Agrinatura and financed by the European Union (2015-2019). The CDAIS approach brought together key stakeholders in agricultural innovation system to promote innovation policies, approaches and partnerships.

Following the CDAIS project, a number of other countries and donors up-scaled the successful CDAIS approach through their projects and programs.

FAO El Salvador has implemented a CDAIS-like project (2018-2021), funded by the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development (AICS).

Since August 2019 the EU supports the new TAP Action Plan through the project "Developing capacities in agricultural innovation systems: scaling up the TAP Framework" (in short, TAP AIS), implemented by FAO, with a budget of EUR 5 million over 5 years (2019-2024).
