Our activities
Our innovation support framework covers a broad portfolio of activities, structured across vertical and horizontal dimensions. These areas of work reinforce each other and converge in the co-creation of national innovation pathways, enabling countries to navigate complexity and drive resilient, sustainable and inclusive agrifood system transformations.
Vertical dimensions
- Integrated, co-created policy, governance and decision-making – developing future-informed, evidence-based frameworks and innovative governance approaches.
- Mission-oriented Agricultural Innovation Systems (AIS) – anticipating and addressing emerging policy areas such as agroecology, nature-based solutions and urban/peri-urban agriculture.
- Holistic agrifood innovation capacities – building technical, functional and institutional capacities at all levels, including novel innovation services and multistakeholder approaches.
Horizontal dimensions
- Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) – creating feedback loops that guide innovation, adaptation and impact.
- Multistakeholder innovation approaches – engaging diverse actors across agrifood systems to co-create effective and inclusive solutions.
- Strategic foresight – anticipating trends, drivers and scenarios to inform anticipatory governance and future-proof policies and planning.
