Mountain Futures Conference
The third Mountain Futures Conference will revolve around the core values and concepts of the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity – "Ecological Civilization: Building a Community of Life on Earth", from Kunming, China to Montreal, Canada, to carry out local and global actions on community-based conservation and rural revitalization for the post global biodiversity framework.
By focusing on the content in the "Kunming Declaration", including the sustainable use of biodiversity (Item 6); ecological health and ecological restoration (Item 10); the full and effective participation of indigenous peoples, local communities, and other relevant stakeholders(Item 15); public education, economic transformation, and life behavior change (Item 16). The conference aims to explore innovative solutions based on nature, culture and interdisciplinary sciences, share typical case studies from scientific frontiers and grassroots communities, address the challenges of biodiversity conservation under globalization, and develop a global action plan for the mountain futures.
The goal of the conference is from Kunming COP15 first stage to Montreal COP15 second stage side event, which is based on the conceptual innovation, scientific achievements, social actions from sharing and discussion in the present conference to condensed into a consensus concept, a typical case and the theme of the film. The conference achievements will be presented on the Montreal COP15 second stage side event titled "Future Mountains in the Post-Global Biodiversity Framework", sending out the voice of mountain people from the south of the clouds in the "Kunming Declaration", and share our proposed global innovation action plan for the future of mountains.
