The Republic of the Congo has joined the International Commission on Poplars and Other Fast-Growing Trees Sustaining People and the Environment (IPC), a statutory body of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The announcement came during the inaugural FAO Treaty Ceremony held at FAO headquarters during the  44th Session of the FAO Conference.

The International Commission on Poplars and Other Fast-Growing Trees Sustaining People and the Environment (IPC) hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) today published a comprehensive guide on the innovative use of fast-growing trees to help sustain people and the environment amid the climate crisis.
