Working Party on Environmental and Ecosystem Services (WP-ENV)
WP-ENV explores the role of fast-growing trees in providing ecosystem services such as soil protection, water regulation, carbon sequestration, and biodiversity enhancement. It promotes innovative solutions for environmental challenges and sustainable land management.
Action plan 2025-2026
- Launch a global survey of experts, practitioners and user groups to identify priority needs, challenges and opportunities for fast-growing trees in environmental and ecosystem services.
- Strengthen networking through collaborations across IPC Working Parties and with international partners (e.g. IUFRO, EURAF, IEA, IUAF), and by participating in global conferences and symposia.
- Deliver an online webinar series (2025–2026) covering phytotechnologies, agroforestry, ecosystem services and human dimensions of fast-growing trees.
- Produce and disseminate science briefs, technical papers and educational videos for multiple audiences.
- Support young professionals and students through internship opportunities, mentorship and active involvement in WP-ENV activities.
