International Plan of Action for Conservation and Management of Sharks

Database of measures on conservation and management of sharks

The database provides a collection of instruments for the conservation and management of sharks. These instruments include binding and non-binding Conservation and Management Measures, Plans of Action, and national legislation.

The term "shark" is used in the broad sense of the FAO International Plan of Action for the Conservation and Management of Sharks and includes all species of sharks, skates, rays, and chimaeras (Class Chondrichthyes).

This database has been developed in cooperation with the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora and with the support of the European Union, the Government of Japan and the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration of the United States of America.

The information held within the database will be checked and updated on a six-monthly basis, FAO would appreciate any advice on information that is out-of-date or incorrect. Advice on possible amendments can be emailed to the attention of Mr Kim Friedman ([email protected]).
