Beneficiary of the programme
28/12/2017

Through the FAO emergency programme, about 60 producers from the districts of Moamba, Magude, Mabalane, Massingir and Guijá have benefited from FAO poultry raising training.

For the implementation of this activity, the beneficiaries received building material from aviaries with 1,500 chickens each, to benefit a total of about 225 families covered by this project.

During the training, several aspects of raising chickens were discussed such as building aviaries, chicks vaccination programs, main diseases and their treatment, biosecurity and also how to manage the chicks business and how to calculate production costs for self-support of beneficiary families.

This FAO initiative is supported by the Government of the Netherlands and aims to work to restore local food production by providing food aid and other assistance, such as poultry raising.

After the sale of the first batch distributed by FAO, the beneficiaries will continue with the funds acquired and may later purchase individual aviaries to increase family income.
