Combating challenges together for global fisheries development
24 September 2014, Rome--- The FAO Fisheries and Aquaculture Department places great importance on partnerships with private sector players who are working towards long-term sustainable use of aquatic resources for global food security and prosperity. The International Coalition of Fisheries Associations is one partner representing national fish and seafood industry trade associations from the world’s major fishing nations. ICFA members represent countries harvesting more than 85% of the globe’s fish.

Alastair Macfarlane is the Executive Secretary, International Coalition of Fisheries Associations. In the following interview he elaborates on the importance of partnering with FAO, issues of growing concern for global fisheries and aquaculture and how to overcome challenges through partnership.
