FAO in Oman

Oman became a member of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in 1971, with FAO commencing its in-country activities in 2012. Since then, FAO and Oman have built a dynamic partnership grounded in knowledge exchange, innovation, and regional collaboration.

Working side by side with government institutions, the private sector, academia, and civil society, FAO Oman supports the country’s efforts to advance sustainable development, preserve natural resources, and transform agrifood systems. Areas of cooperation include climate-smart agriculture, plant protection, water governance, biodiversity, food safety, animal health, and resilient rural livelihoods—ensuring that people and the planet thrive together.
